Kyrgyzstan is a fascinating landlocked country situated in Central Asia, west of China. I have visited twice so far and have always enjoyed my time there. It is largely unspoiled by mass tourism although lots of backpackers are starting to discover the place.
It has the magnificent Tien Shan mountain range in the north of the country, has the world's largest natural growth walnut forest (2001)and Bishkek, the capital is sometimes called the greenest city in central Asia.
The second gallery of pictures were taken in Cholpon Ata which is a town near the Lake Issyk Kul resort. Issy Kul meaning "warm lake" is the second largest mountain lake in the world after Lake Titicaca in South America. Instead of photographing the lake itself, I explored the market and the nearby Petroglyphs
Here is a small representation of some of the images I made.
